South East France Road Trip Itinerary: Lyon Round-Trip

This South East France road trip itinerary begins and ends in one of France’s largest cities, a place known for its grand renaissance architecture and historical beginnings in the affluent silk trade: Lyon.

From Lyon, culinary capital of France (and therefore pretty much of the world), you’ll head north-east to the medieval town of Pérouges. You’ll visit artisan markets, stroll down cobblestone lanes, and sip wine from the nearby Côtes du Rhône region before heading further east to the quaint spa town of Aix-les-Bains and the canal town of Annecy.

As you follow this road trip itinerary through the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, there’ll be plenty of lakes, mountains, and viewpoints to stop and enjoy along the way.
